Light Fantastic
We are delighted to report that Staffordshire County Council awarded our village hall a grant of £870 to replace all of our high wattage halogen downlighters. The work was far more than just changing a bulb, as each lighting unit, (luminaire) had to be taken down and replaced, many were high up in the hall’s ceiling and over the stage.
The new downlighter luminaires now can enable the new energy efficient LED bulbs to be swapped out for easy future maintenance. The grant made it all affordable and therefore possible. It stimulated us into making the decision to switch and inspired us to replace some other lights with LEDs on the outside of the hall too. The result is already lower electricity bills, and the knowledge that the hall is, in a small way, helping to reduce our use of carbon and greenhouse gas emissions.
We were also delighted to keep the work local to the village, with Egginton Electrical doing a super job. Thanks, Rob. Also thanks must also go to Staffordshire County Councillor Paul Northcott who first alerted us to the council’s grant fund in the first place, an illuminating meeting!
